Q: Tell us a little bit about you, girl!

A: I’m an Integrative Health Coach that partners with a Certified Nutritional Holistic Practitioner in a duo titled: The Wellness Chicas! Our mission is to guide the “busy bee”/working woman towards her highest level of fitness & nutritional health!

Q: How did your career as a health coach begin?

A: I started out as a dancer who only knew cardio and stretching. I was taught that weights would make you tight and bulky. I was that cardio girl who feared the weight section of the gym and didn’t know what to do whenever I would venture into that area. Eventually, I fell in love with weight training and both the physical and mental results that come with getting stronger and pushing your body to its fullest potential! I first developed a business called Pointe n’ Flex Fitness and then decided to add nutrition coaching to my practice which ultimately led me to partner with my long time friend, Raiany Silva. AKA the other half of The Wellness Chicas.

Q: What inspired you to turn your passion into a business?

A: I know there’s a negative stigma sometimes around turning your passion into a business, but I knew deep down that this is what I eventually wanted to do full time. I looked at my life a year out, 5 years out, 10 years out, and knew I wanted to wake up every day and help women bridge the gap between where they are, and where they ultimately want to be.

Q: What advice do you have for women looking to make a change in terms of health and wellness?

A: I say, start with baby steps: get down and dirty with that uncomfortable honesty that comes with evaluating aspects of your everyday routine that are proving to be detrimental to your overall wellness. Understand that this is a lifelong journey, and there’s a victory in even recognizing the parts of your life that need to change - no matter how personal, before you can work towards your highest level of health & wellness. Behavioral change is the first step, all things fitness and nutrition come after.

Q:  What’s the most rewarding—and most challenging—part of your work?

A: The most rewarding is the client testimonials and knowing deep down that I was a part of the changes within my client’s life. To know a woman is now waking up, navigating life with healthier habits and education behind fitness and nutrition is the ultimate reward. What’s challenging is giving myself grace when I backslide or feel as though I’m not always leading by example. I’m human, too! And I think honesty with my clients is what creates such a safe space for us both, as coach and client.

Q:  What’s next for you and your business?

A: Raiany and I are working on a full health and wellness COURSE titled: The Chica Changeover! This is going to be an interactive, self-learning course that will prep clients to eventually be able to create their own fitness and meal plans! We will be educating them on the science and “why” behind our own meal + workout plans so that they leave it feeling confident enough to step into this journey independently. We can’t wait!!!
