How To Stay Productive When Working From Home

Working from home can definitely be quite the adjustment for some, especially when it’s involving added stress because of these strange, uncertain times. We’re here to let you in on some of our favorite productivity tips as well as some from our community.

Below are our tips and best practices when working from home.

Get up and Get Dressed | First and foremost, continue your ordinary morning routine. Get up, get dressed, make your bed. Fight the urge to wear PJ’s all day! This will instill a sense of normalcy and start your day out right, we promise. Peri recommends wearing shoes during the work day and taking them off once you’re done working.

Stick to a Schedule | Working from home can have a big impact on your productivity levels, so attempt to organize and plan out your day to make sure you don’t get overwhelmed. If you’re a mom, do this for your kids as well. Be sure to include time for breaks, ideation, research, brainstorming, etc. Set an “end of day” so that you know when to disconnect.

Daily To-Do List | At the beginning of each day, make a list of things you need to get done and set (flexible) deadlines for those tasks! Hannah finds that when she keeps the list shorter, rather than long to do lists with 10+ items, she tends to almost always get them all done!

Take frequent breaks | Working for hours and hours on end will definitely lead to burnout. Carley suggests taking 5/10 minute breaks every hour or two. If you’re able, get moving, get outside, do an online workout class, make a cup of coffee or treat - oh, and definitely don’t skip over happy hour ;)

Have a set workspace | As much as we may want to stay cooped up in bed, it’s best to set up a defined workspace in your home. Keep it clean and tidy. As Darleen says, a clear space leads to a clear mind!
